“I am a free being of blissful consciousness playing with my powers of intent, action and understanding.”

— Christopher Wallis, Tantra Illuminated

A process of discovery

See yourself—and reality—with new eyes.

This self-examination intends to help you create a more conscious, coherent, and expansive relationship with yourself and your life.

Discover yourself as more capable, powerful, and perhaps even aligned with a loving universe. As you move through this journey, you will develop a sense of purpose and its connection to meaning, hope, and joy.

These practices will allow you to challenge cynicism, doubt, fear, shame, and the lingering authority of past pain. They are designed to help you meet the inner voices that say, in a thousand overt and subtle ways, “You are not good enough” or “The universe is an unsafe place,” and answer them with clearer thinking; a healthy sense of self; and a growing capacity to act.

The motivational heart

Become ruthless about embodying the life you are truly capable of inhabiting.

01

Your desires are real information about you!

02

Your joy is possible and probable with focus and intent.

03

The past is not prophecy. It can be instructive, but realignment is possible.

04

You have callings, purpose, and the capacity to meet the best in yourself.

Self-knowledge becomes lived evidence

Through personal inquiry, real-life fieldwork, and guided experimentation, you will create an evolving map.

Depth with a livable rhythm

Most days5–10 minutes of noticing or recording

Deeper inquiries30–60 minutes, completed across more than one sitting

Seven mornings of inquiry. A new day opens each morning. At the end our team will give you a personalized assessment of your Current Compass with tips for how to get more out of your life.

The deep Genius inquiry

We are gathering the elements of your life to find what causes optimal flow in the right direction.

Take your time to let your inner life speak. Notice where attention has returned across time, context, action, attraction, relationship, and witness. We will synthesize this so you can discover the particular energies moving through your life.

A deeply personal inquiry · personal results

Your language should be as particular as your life.

The completed analysis will allow you to see a constellation related to your identity, supported by several forms of evidence. Within that constellation, you will see how your Genius is translated into your unique Superpowers!

Seven evidence fields

A whole pattern, seen from more than one angle

No single answer proves a power. Convergence matters; contradiction matters too.

01

Child-like Wonder

One or two concrete scenes from at least two age ranges, followed by the energy underneath them.

02

Inspiration

People, books, movies, music, places, and ideas that carry charge—and what they inspire you to cultivate.

03

What Still Lives

Earlier desires, practices, forms, and callings that still live in you and want expression—including what future capacity or form of life may be trying to emerge.

04

Capacity in Action

Specific scenes showing what you noticed, did, changed, and made possible—not only qualities you admire.

05 · A social mirror, not a verdict

The Five Witnesses

You remain the primary authority on your own life. Human beings know themselves from the inside and are also shaped and seen through relationship. Five people from different parts of your life can reveal effects, capacities, and patterns that are difficult to see alone—but their responses are perspectives, not votes.

Witnesses may disagree with one another and with you. That disagreement is useful information. It does not mean someone else knows your life better, and it does not transfer your choices to the group. The synthesis holds your self-knowledge and social evidence in conversation while leaving the final word with you.

You will invite five people to offer positive observations, a concrete example, when they see you most alive, and one respectful invitation for growth.

06

Choices Under Tension

Forced choices reveal which claim you actually protect first. They never assign a category or type.

07

Conditions & Mystery

What helps a capacity live, plus your chosen relationship to psyche, symbol, coincidence, and a responsive universe.

The synthesis

An essential overview of your whole life pattern.

Four movements bring the evidence into focus and reveal how your gifts form a living constellation.

  1. Movement 1

    Gather the evidence

Actions, attentional habits, energy, characteristic effects, conditions, witness observations, tensions, and contradictions.

  2. Movement 2

    Crystallize essential gifts

Recognize personally worded Superpowers that are supported across the particular evidence of your life.

  3. Movement 3

    Clarify the pattern

Notice the contexts, relationships, and conditions that reveal when and how each power becomes available.

  4. Movement 4

    Synthesize the constellation

Name the constellation, supporting evidence, particular energies, and personal Superpowers.

What the assessment returns

Recognition—and possibilities to bring into Guided Discovery.

Personal Superpowers

Named in language particular to the participant, with the life material that supports each one.

A constellation

How the powers work together, where they differ, and what conditions help them become available.

Conditions for expression

Where each Superpower comes alive, what helps it flourish, and where it may want further development.

Experiment possibilities

Find the living combinations.

Your Field Journal and Genius Analysis place different kinds of personal evidence beside one another. The places where they meet become themes you can explore with Tracy during Guided Discovery—not a prescribed experiment or final answer.

Supported SuperpowersPattern recognitionWarm, clarifying presence
At your bestPublic speakingBringing people together
Possible themesMake hidden patterns visible to a roomCreate connection through shared insight

Illustrative combination only. Your possibilities will be drawn from your own record.

This is an original structured reflective inquiry—not a diagnosis, treatment, validated personality test, measure of worth, or machine-generated verdict. The participant has the final word and may revise or reject the language of the synthesis.

Current Compass

Opens after initial fieldwork

Enliven the Current reads across Map of Desire, Meet Yourself Here, the seven-day Baseline Field Journal, and the Successful-Self Field Test. The Compass returns what is visible now without pretending the opening record is a final explanation.

Aliveness

Where life is already moving

Repeated settings, relationships, activities, and conditions associated with vitality or meaningful engagement.

Attention

What repeatedly gathers you

Where attention travels, where it appears out of proportion, and where importance may not yet have enough room.

Agency

Where movement may be available

Choices, capacities, and small points of leverage already visible in the participant's own evidence.

Living questions

What needs more evidence

Contradictions, exceptions, and questions carried forward into the Genius Inquiry rather than prematurely resolved.

A guided path

Finding and Living in Your Current

First notice the energies already moving through your life. Then give them direction through sustained attention, practice, experiment, and contact with reality. Move through the journey to make an essential map. The path is a spiral, not a ladder. As awareness grows, so does your capacity to choose what you strengthen and how you participate.

  1. 01

    Begin a Baseline Field Journal

Use the first Daily Practice module to record how you currently meet life: what is working, what is asking for attention, what you notice, and what happens across the day. Observe before trying to change anything.

  2. 02

    Run a Successful-Self Field Test

Begin with a real occasion when you were successful. Bring forward the skills, thoughts, and behaviors you already recognize, live from them briefly, and compare what happens with your baseline.

  3. 03

    Assess Your Genius

Take a deep dive into your story, potential, gifts, work, attractions, and possibilities. Find what makes you uniquely you—super and powerful!

  4. 04

    Open Your Analysis Home

Receive your personally named Superpowers, their supporting evidence, the conditions that help them live, and how they form a constellation. Your Analysis Home will grow with every later stage.

  5. 05

    Enter Guided Discovery

Set up a personalized online session to discuss your results, explore uncertainty and overextension, and locate the living question ready to move forward.

  6. 06

    Form Your First Reality Experiment

Clarify the deeper request, identify the evidence that would matter, and create one ethical action through which reality can answer.

  7. 07

    Practice, Record, and Revise

Use Daily Practice and your Field Record to stay in contact with the experiment without turning it into a performance score.

  8. 08

    Run Multiple Experiments

Test your Superpowers in different conditions and let supporting, complicating, and surprising evidence refine the map.

  9. 09

    Discover Your Personal Signature

Across experiments, notice your distinctive way of engaging possibility and bringing your Genius into contact with reality. The signature is a finding—not a type or an identity assigned in advance.

  10. 10

    Enter Advanced Shimmer Practice

With greater experience and discernment, work more intentionally with symbol, synchronicity, invitation, and the possibility that the universe is offering a hand.

How your work stays connected

One living record—not a stack of completed forms.

Each stage adds evidence to the same evolving account of your life. You can enter information at different times, return to earlier entries, and respond to what Enliven the Current sees across them.

01 · Record

Enter life as it happens

Dated Field Journal entries preserve what happened, what was alive within you, where attention went, and what remained unclear.

02 · Connect

We read across the record

Enliven the Current looks for repeated conditions, values in action, friction, exceptions, inner–outer relationships, and questions that need more evidence.

03 · Return

Receive a synthesis

Your Current Compass and Genius Analysis return patterns with supporting examples—not a score, type, or machine verdict.

04 · Revise

Add your recognition

You identify what feels accurate, incomplete, unsupported, surprising, or misnamed. Your response becomes part of the living record.

During the pilot: secure participant forms hold the submitted record. Simple counts and timelines may appear immediately; interpretive returns are prepared by Enliven the Current with human review.

I am willing to practice seeing , because I want to discover whether can become more possible in my life.

Opening module 1

Map of Desire

Day 1

The world you entered

You are fundamentally entitled by your birthright to your desires and to develop your gifts.

The amazing author, educator, activist, and head of the Center for Courage and Renewal, Parker Palmer, says:

“We arrive in this world with birthright gifts—then we spend the first half of our lives abandoning them or letting others disabuse us of them. As young people, we are surrounded by expectations that may have little to do with who we really are, expectations held by people who are not trying to discern our selfhood but to fit us into slots. … We are trained away from true self toward images of acceptability … and we often betray true self to gain approval of others.”

— Parker Palmer

Palmer goes on to talk about the dangers of squandering one’s life this way. He connects this lack of true self with missing the mark on how you can best be of service in the world and how you can feel most energized in your life. You are here because you want to accomplish more of what matters to you! So what do you, yourself, really value? You may still not feel equipped to know.

The concept of your Genius will be an ongoing part of this journey.

Writer Michael Meade, in his book The Genius Myth, focuses on the concept of “genius” based on the older sense of the word. Before it meant a really smart person, it was considered a “spirit” in each person’s soul, meant to help them achieve their potential. Meade brings up myths from many cultures where the characteristics of this spirit are often in opposition to the person’s family.

    Preliminary to the Field Journal

Look at the whole field before deciding what the week means.

For seven days, you will make three kinds of notes: how you are arriving at the beginning of the day, moments worth noticing as life happens, and what becomes visible when you look back at the end of the day.

You are not being asked to rate your life or repair every area. The map simply helps you notice where ease, friction, aliveness, attention, gratitude, and surprise are appearing. Some areas may be quiet. Others may overlap. Follow what is actually happening.

    Observations

This is where individual moments begin to form a living pattern. Enliven the Current begins from the premise that inner and outer life participate in and affect one another. Here, you study what attention selects and the particular ways your consciousness shapes, meets, and is answered by reality.

    ↔

Keep both sides in view. What happened outside you? What was alive inside you? How did each affect the other—and what larger pattern may be revealing itself through their meeting?

    Two connected inquiries

    Genius & the Life Spiral

    ✦

    Genius asks who

What unseen companion and distinctive pattern seek expression through this life?

    ↻

    The Spiral asks how

How do themes return, deepen, and develop over time?

    What we mean by Genius

Here, Genius does not mean exceptional intelligence, achievement, or the heroic ego. Drawing on the classical idea of a genius as an accompanying spirit—and on the recurring mythic image of the divine twin—it names the unseen counterpart who seems to arrive with us: an intimate other carrying an image of what this particular life might become.

The Genius may be felt as daimon, guide, soul-image, inner companion, or divine twin. It is not identical to the everyday self, yet it is bound to us. It calls through persistent fascinations, gifts, desires, wounds, dreams, recurring patterns, and the strange feeling that some possibilities belong especially to us.

For one person, this may be a language for psyche and imagination. For another, the Genius may be encountered as sacred or metaphysically real. Enliven the Current leaves both doors open—and does not require either person to flatten the mystery into the other’s explanation.

    The Genius question

Not “How gifted am I?” but “What has been trying to live through me—and how might I enter a more conscious relationship with it?”

A Jungian foundation. Jung called the movement toward a more conscious relationship with the whole personality individuation. It is not perfection or eccentricity. It is learning to live from more of what one is—including contradictions, desires, inheritances, and possibilities the everyday identity may not yet contain.

A provisional map, not a verdict

The Genius Inquiry draws from temperament, motivation, values, biography, childhood fascinations, recurring patterns, gifts, wounds, desires, dreams, symbols, and the way others experience you. It looks for convergence—and deliberately seeks contradiction.

“This is a provisional map of the perspective from which you currently meet life. Let’s test it.”

    A working hypothesis includes

    • Recurring functions and movements
    • Converging and contradictory evidence
    • Conditions of flourishing and diminishment
    • Confidence, uncertainty, and alternatives

    The Spiral remembers

    • Return is not automatically regression
    • Development may be uneven
    • Old material can meet new capacities
    • Your map should change as your life does

    The cornerstone

    Reality Experiments

Self-knowledge becomes sturdier when it risks contact with life. An experiment deliberately places attention, choice, and action around a living question—then lets reality answer.

    Genius hypothesis→Experiment→Evidence→Revision→Spiral

Reality may answer through observable outcomes, inner response, other people, symbolic resonance, coincidence—or what genuinely feels like the universe offering a hand. Record what happens without requiring everyone to interpret it from the same perspective.

    From Guided Discovery

Begin with a supported Superpower and the living question clarified in your First Experiment Discovery. Emerging powers are noticed later through repeated experimental evidence.

    Locked sequence

Complete First Experiment Discovery before using this form.

This keeps the form from asking you to manufacture an experiment before the deeper request and useful evidence are clear.

    A useful experiment is…

    AliveSmall enoughObservableEthicalUseful either way

    The next movement

    Let the experiment answer you.

Keep a visual Field Record of evidence, the Superpowers you used, and the capacities that may be beginning to emerge.

    After your first experiment

    Spin the Current

Chance offers the arrangement. You decide whether it feels alive enough to test.

This opens when your first experiment has produced evidence.

One observation in your Field Record is enough. From there, the generator can draw upon the Superpowers you have actually named and used.

You may understand the spin psychologically as a way to interrupt habitual problem-solving, symbolically as an invitation from the unexpected, or metaphysically as the universe offering a hand. No interpretation is required.

    After your assessment

Bring your Genius into contact with life.

The analysis helps you recognize your current. Guided fieldwork helps you concentrate attention around a living question, form a well-designed experiment, and gather evidence sturdy enough to change what you believe is possible.

A human place in the process

    A Discovery Session with Tracy

After your Genius Analysis, an optional one-to-one session helps you notice what is most alive, question what is still uncertain, and form an early experiment that fits your actual life. Sessions take place on Zoom.

Your Superpowers are amazing and useful. At the same time, a powerful and prevalent energy can create an Achilles heel when it becomes overextended, operates without the conditions it needs, or is asked to do every job. Guided Discovery offers a place to notice this possibility without treating it as a defect—and another reason to explore your results with care.

The session can also explore a core wound: an old place where identity, desire, belonging, safety, or power became charged. You will not be asked to diagnose yourself or excavate it alone. Together, we can ask whether the wound and the Genius developed in relationship—and whether some of your most particular sensitivities, protections, and gifts are found inside it. “Your wound is your wand” is an invitation for discovery, not a demand to make suffering meaningful.

Sometimes memories, bodily responses, expectations, images, and conclusions arrive together as an emotionally charged pattern. Analytical psychology calls this a complex: not a defect, but an organization of experience that can temporarily act with a life of its own.

Discovery does not rush to make one side defeat the other. Jung called the new possibility that may emerge through sustained dialogue between conscious intention and what has not yet entered awareness the transcendent function. Here, we hold desire, contradiction, symbol, evidence, and uncertainty long enough for an experiment to become visible.

Tracy will help you choose a question rather than force a goal, make the experiment small enough to answer, name useful evidence, and decide how your supported Superpowers can participate. New or budding powers are not assigned here; experiments may reveal them later through repeated evidence.

    Attention & discernment

    Symbols, Synchronicity & the Shimmer

Sometimes an ordinary phrase, object, encounter, dream, or coincidence becomes unusually alive. We call this the Shimmer. It may be psyche, pattern, coincidence, or the universe offering a hand. You do not have to settle the metaphysics in order to become more attentive and participatory.

    Lightly held wonder

Notice what shimmers. Follow it lightly. Respond without demanding certainty.

You do not have to settle the metaphysics to receive an experience as meaningful. Let curiosity open the door while discernment keeps you free: notice without becoming credulous, respond without trying to control, and care without gripping a single interpretation.

“Discernment makes enchantment safer; it does not make life less enchanted.”

Synchronicity, carefully held. Jung used the term for a meaningful correspondence between an inner condition and an outer event that is not adequately explained through ordinary causation. Meaningfulness does not make an event a command, prediction, or promise.

    1

    Notice the interruption

What briefly made the ordinary feel charged, elegant, funny, or unexpectedly alive?

    2

    Record before explaining

Describe what happened, then begin with your own associations and history rather than a fixed symbol dictionary.

    3

    Follow and amplify one thread

Begin with your own associations, then widen gently: where does the image appear in myth, story, religion, art, or collective life? Jung called this amplification. It enlarges the field without supplying an official meaning.

    4

    The Science of Perspective

Perception is not a passive recording of reality. Attention, expectation, emotion, memory, and action continuously shape the world we encounter.

    Attention selects

What we attend to becomes more available for thought and action. Intention can change which opportunities, risks, and patterns enter awareness.

    Prediction organizes

The nervous system uses prior learning to anticipate what is likely. These predictions are efficient, but they can make old realities feel inevitable.

    Action generates evidence

New behavior changes what the environment can return. Experiments can create evidence that reflection alone cannot produce.

    Positive emotion broadens

Moments of interest, amusement, gratitude, and joy can widen attention and gradually build psychological resources.

Enliven the Current treats scientific theories as useful interpretive frameworks, not as permission to collapse every spiritual or philosophical tradition into neuroscience.

    Attachment

Before we could explain our lives, we were learning what closeness, responsiveness, safety, and having needs might mean.

    Felt predictions before words

Early relationships contribute to internal working models: often-unspoken expectations about whether others will respond, whether need is dangerous, whether closeness is reliable, and what we must do to preserve connection. Some of this learning may predate narrative memory and appear later as sensation, emotion, image, impulse, or certainty.

    A caution against false certainty

The task is not to reconstruct a perfectly accurate childhood history. Memory is living and incomplete. The useful question is what your system appears to have learned—and whether that prediction still fits the life you are living now.

    Questions for inquiry

    • What did closeness seem to require?
    • What happened when you needed comfort, protection, or attention?
    • Which feelings were welcomed, and which threatened connection?
    • What do you sense from before you had words for it?
    • What present relationships support a different prediction?
Attachment is relational learning—not destiny, diagnosis, or a personality type.

    The Ancient Alarm

An old protective system is always scanning for danger, remembering pain, and preparing for recurrence. Its urgency deserves care—but not unquestioned authority.

    Alarm is not prophecy.

What feels urgently true may be an old relational prediction activated by present stress.

    Protection can become a script

Threat sensitivity helped human beings survive. Under stress, attention narrows, the mind gives painful information extra weight, and familiar explanations become easier to reach. A life script may once have been intelligent protection. Its familiarity does not make it destiny; awareness can create enough pause to widen the field and recover choice.

“The Ancient Alarm may be writing the story right now. It is trying to protect you by treating an old possibility as the most important possibility. Thank it—and collect more evidence.”

    The science beneath the metaphor

    How a negativity spiral forms

“Negativity spiral” is our plain-language name for a feedback loop described across several areas of research—not a formal diagnosis or a single brain mechanism. The loop begins with an adaptive bias: potential danger is given priority because missing a threat can be more costly than missing a pleasant opportunity.

    01

    Possible threat receives priority

Negative information can influence evaluation more strongly than comparably intense positive information. In laboratory research, negative images produced a larger evaluative brain response even when positive and negative images were equally probable, intense, and arousing.

    02

    The body mobilizes

When danger is perceived, stress mediators help redirect energy toward immediate action. This rapid response is protective. The difficulty begins when activation is intense, repeatedly re-triggered, or does not fully settle after the event has passed.

    03

    Perspective can narrow

High stress can weaken prefrontal functions involved in working memory, inhibition, flexible judgment, and holding several possibilities in mind. The most alarming explanation can then feel like the only explanation—not because it has been proven, but because alternatives are temporarily harder to access.

    04

The mind keeps the threat present

Rumination and worry repeatedly represent the stressor after the immediate event. Research on perseverative cognition suggests that this mental rehearsal can extend stress-related physiological activation beyond the original trigger.

    05

The next alarm becomes easier to trigger

A more activated body, reduced cognitive flexibility, and repeated negative thought can make threat-consistent details easier to notice and retrieve. The resulting fear then feels like fresh proof of the original story, strengthening the loop.

    Potential threat→Stress activation→Narrower perspective→Rumination or worry→Prolonged activation↻
    The crucial distinction

A feeling of certainty can be produced by an activated protective system. Certainty is an experience; it is not, by itself, evidence. The way out is not forced positivity. It is enough regulation to recover flexibility, followed by a deliberate widening of the evidence.

    Research foundations

    1. Ito, Larsen, Smith & Cacioppo (1998) — experimental evidence that negative information can receive greater evaluative weight.
    2. McEwen (1998) — allostasis, adaptive stress responses, and the costs of repeated or prolonged activation.
    3. Arnsten (2009) — how stress-signaling pathways can impair prefrontal cortical function.
    4. Brosschot, Gerin & Thayer (2006) — the perseverative cognition hypothesis: worry, rumination, and prolonged physiological activation.
    5. Nolen-Hoeksema, Wisco & Lyubomirsky (2008) — evidence that rumination can intensify negative thinking and interfere with problem-solving and effective action.

The final step of the loop is a synthesis of these interacting findings. It should be treated as a useful model to test, not as a claim that every person or every episode follows an identical sequence.

    Interrupting the spiral

    1

    Name the alarm

Notice urgency, narrowing, certainty, and the pull toward an old conclusion.

    2

    Honor its purpose

Ask what danger it is trying to prevent rather than treating it as defective thinking.

    3

    Widen the evidence

Look for present facts, alternative explanations, and small actions that can test the prediction.

    Development & the Life Spiral

A life can revisit the same essential questions many times. Return may be evidence of deepening—not failure to progress.

We do not return to exactly the same place. We return carrying what has happened since.

    Stage theories as interpretive frameworks

Erik Erikson, Jean Piaget, Lawrence Kohlberg, and Robert Kegan offer influential ways of understanding human development. Karen Horney belongs here as a relational and psychoanalytic pathmaker rather than a formal stage theorist.

Enliven the Current draws from these thinkers without turning development into a fixed ranking or universal verdict. Growth can include return, unevenness, contradiction, and context. Different parts of a person may develop at different rates, and capacities available in one setting may disappear under threat in another.
